“Just because you survive something does not mean you are strong”

Roxane Gay’s book “Bad Feminist” reads like a conversation with your wisest friend, “I embrace the label of bad feminist because I am human. I am messy. I’m not trying to be an example.”

She critiques pop culture while implicating herself in the problem – ie she can’t help but listen to Kanye’s Yeezus on repeat despite her disdain for his disdain for women. Sarcasm is one of her gifts. She’s like a (bad) feminist and a comedian, but mostly a (perfect) feminist who just happens to be funny and brilliant. Whatever. Just please read her book. Your life might change.
